Again, not that we're counting the days but as I looked at the calendar I couldn't help but notice Laura and I are leaving from New York to Milan two weeks from today! It's a little overwhelming to think about, especially the packing part (though my ever so organized sister is just about done!). I have at least done some pre-packing in my head. A notorious "over-packer", I am determined to do this 2 week trip in one large duffle and of course my carry on which shouldn't really count as it is just my electronic equipment and purse.
My biggest concern is shoes!!! Though I've narrowed it down to my Reebok toner tennies (might as well give my legs and ass a workout while walking, despite the recent consumer report article about people "falling off them" and breaking there ankles or other such injuries!), and a pair of nice night shoes (not to high of a heel---it is cobblestone afterall) and a couple pair of flip-flops. As for the rest of what I'll be taking that will simply fall in to place I am just sure of it!
Starting to get nervous about leaving my two dogs for this length of time. They are used to me traveling as I do quite a bit for work, but I've never left them for 14 days. They will be in good hands however, so I really am just going to be missing them.
We'll be doing a lot of driving, as I told one friend today. He let me know to be careful because while you won't see much of a police presence there are cameras everywhere and they WILL find you if you commit any kind of infraction. Probably ought to put a little $$$ in reserve as this is an almost certainty for me.
I'm sure there is a lot more that I could stress out over if I really put my mind to it, but then I remember I will be in Italy with my sister---what could possibly go wrong?

Man does my sister know me
It scares the "shidooby" (thank you Chelsea Handler for that word, sorry about the spelling) out of me. I cracked up when she said that I would would be packing on the 22nd (one day before our departure). I didn't even tell her that I was taking that day off TO pack and she STILL knows. Bless Laura's heart she is constantly doing my "pre-pack" check-in to which I unconvincingly fib and tell her I'm on it! But she knows me to damn well. It's a blessing and a curse.
I just am simply in disbelief that this trip is really happening. It may be our most romantic trip together yet. Laura eluded to the "strange" situations we seem to find ourselves in when we are together. That's [putting it mildly. It's like the universe likes to throw us curve balls and enjoys watching how we handle it.
I mentioned "romantic trip" above. It is hilarious that some if not most of my romantic getaways have been with Laura. True fact---the first (and only I might add) time I ever slept in a hotel bed with mirrors on the ceiling was with my sister. Meanwhile, our mother (whom we bring along with us on occasion) was one bed over listening to white noise on her transistor radio---yes I really mean transistor radio. We were in reno and she couldn't find a station so the sweet sound of static seemed to appease her. Laura and laughed ourselves to sleep over this situation. We couldn't help but see the irony that the hotel desk clerk had upgraded us to the penthouse sweet as they encourage women traveling alone to there little town and yep we had our mother with us! It actually was a blast and mom is a great sport!
We are now just 17 days from take off to Italy and only time will tell if Italy is ready for the Worcester Sisters! With our luck the Leaning Tower of Pisa will finally fall once we get there. Just one more memory to add to our adventures together!
